The project ALDEFRUIT that Cromogenia Units develops, consists of the preparation of aldehydes from fruit wastes by means of enzymatic procedures for its application in leather.
The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness approved last 2nd of December with the help of the Secretary of State for Investigation, Development and Innovation the project ALDEFRUIT after the resolution of the State Program I+D+I for Society Challenges 2015, Preparation of aldehydes from fruit wastes by means of enzymatic procedures for its application in leather. The project has been co-financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with the goal to promote technological development, innovation and quality research.
The general goal of the Aldefruit project is the development of new chemical and biotechnological processes to revalue fruit wastes contributing added value by means of the achievement of a dialdehyde-type composite for its application in leather as an alternative to current tanning products.
The coordinated consortium by CROMOGENIA UNITS, S.A, a highly qualified company for chemical specialties counts on a multidisciplinary team built by INDULLEIDA, S.A, a company for the elaboration of fruit juices and other fruit derived products and the University of Lleida with the help of the Centre of Biotechnological and Agri-Food Development (DBA) and realized the project development between 2015 and 2018.
